Gamerland: Half of all guests tapped the Google review link when the prizes were hours of play

Gamerland has run a SpiniX wheel for twelve months with prizes such as an hour of arcade, an hour of VR and a two-for-one day pass. Over 89 spins, 52% of guests tapped the Google review link and 49% opted in to marketing, the best review rate of any venue on SpiniX with 50 or more spins.

Data period 26 August 2025 to 23 August 2026. Queried from the SpiniX platform on 5 September 2026 by Adam Palicz, founder. Every figure carries its definition below.

The challenge

A gaming venue with PC stations, an arcade room and VR sells time, and it competes on Google rating with every other place a group of friends could spend a Saturday. Reviews come from regulars, slowly; casual visitors rarely think of it.

Volume is modest, so every guest who scans has to count. A wheel that only hands out discounts would have been another coupon nobody redeems.

What the venue did

  1. 1

A SpiniX prize wheel at the desk, with a prize set built on what the venue has in stock: hours of play.

  2. 2

Four of the five prizes are concrete: an hour of PC play, an hour in the arcade room, an hour of VR, and a two-for-one day pass. A small buffet discount fills the remaining odds.

  3. 3

Guests enter an email to receive the prize as a wallet pass and see the Google review link with no condition attached once the prize is secured.

The wheel

  • 10% off at the buffet (60% of spins)
  • 1 hour in the arcade room (17%)
  • 1 hour of free PC play (15%)
  • Two-for-one day pass (7%)
  • 1 hour of VR (1%)

The results

Over 89 spins in twelve months, 51.7% of guests tapped the Google review link, more than three times the platform median of 15% and the best rate of any venue on SpiniX with 50 or more spins.

49.4% of guests opted in to marketing, above the platform median of 42%, and 88 of the 89 spins left a distinct email address.

The sample is small, so the rates are indicative rather than precise. They point the same way as the platform-wide pattern: guests who win a concrete item tap the review link 30 to 39% of the time, guests who win a percentage discount 8 to 9%.

How each number is counted

  • 51.7% tapped the review link: Share of spins where the guest tapped the Google review link. Platform median: 15%.
  • 49.4% marketing opt-in: Share of spins where the guest ticked the marketing opt-in box. Platform median: 42%.
  • 89 spins: One spin is one guest completing the wheel on their own phone. A small sample; treat the rates as indicative.
  • 12 months on SpiniX: First spin 26 August 2025, latest 23 August 2026.

What made the difference

  • The prizes are inventory, not money: an hour of arcade time in a quiet slot costs the venue nothing and is worth a lot to the guest.

  • The venue has kept the wheel running for a full year. Longevity, not launch-week volume, is what builds a list a venue can use.
