AROOM: 3,089 spins and 2,718 guest contacts in seven months, from one QR code at the exit

AROOM put a SpiniX prize wheel at the exit of its escape rooms in January 2026. Seven months later it had 2,718 guest contacts and the biggest single month of any venue on the platform: 877 contacts in February 2026.

The challenge

AROOM runs six escape rooms. Each booking arrives with one email address, the booker's, and a room full of five or six players who leave with nothing that connects them to the venue. For a business that lives on groups rebooking a different room, that is most of the audience lost after every game.

The review ask had the same problem: one line from the game master at the door, at a moment when the team is already halfway to the car.

What the venue did

  1. 1

A SpiniX prize wheel went on a QR code at the exit, with the game master saying one line at the debrief: everyone scans, everyone wins something.

  2. 2

Each player scans on their own phone, spins, and enters an email to receive the prize as an Apple or Google Wallet pass. With the prize secured, the Google review link appears with no condition attached.

  3. 3

The wheel launched with a discount-based prize set, which is what most escape rooms reach for first. The prizes and odds were set by AROOM in the SpiniX dashboard; no hardware and no booking-system integration were involved.

The wheel

  • 9,000 HUF off (10% of spins)
  • 6,000 HUF off (23%)
  • 20% off (23%)
  • 4,000 HUF off (15%)
  • 25% off (13%)
  • 30% off (10%)
  • 50% off (5%)
  • Free game (1%)

The results

Between 29 January and 4 September 2026 the wheel recorded 3,089 spins and 2,718 distinct guest emails, the most of any venue on SpiniX. February 2026 alone produced 921 spins and 877 contacts. Almost all spins fell between February and June; July and August were near zero and September has picked up again.

A third of guests (33.5%) opted in to marketing, below the platform median of 42%, which is consistent with a discount-only wheel. 7.6% of prizes were redeemed on a later visit and 3.7% of guests installed a wallet pass.

The review link was tapped on 8.5% of spins. That is where a concrete-prize wheel would add the most: across SpiniX, guests who win a concrete item tap the review link 30 to 39% of the time, guests who win a percentage discount 8 to 9%. Applied to AROOM's volume, the difference is hundreds of review-page visits a month.

How each number is counted

  • 3,089 spins: One spin is one guest completing the wheel on their own phone.
  • 2,718 guest contacts: Distinct email addresses entered to receive a prize.
  • 877 contacts in the best month: Distinct emails collected in February 2026 (921 spins that month).
  • 33.5% marketing opt-in: Share of spins where the guest ticked the marketing opt-in box.

What made the difference

  • Volume comes from the script, not the prize. AROOM's prizes are ordinary discounts; what fills the list is a game master who asks every player, every game.

  • Group venues capture contacts at a rate no restaurant can match, because one scan per phone turns a booking of one into six contacts.

  • The next lever is the prize set: free hints, extra minutes and a free player on the next booking cost less than a 30% discount and, in our data, get three to four times as many review clicks.
