Frequently asked questions

What is a Google review link?
A Google review link is a direct URL that takes a customer straight to the review form for your business on Google. Instead of searching for your business on Google Maps and finding the review button, they click one link and start writing immediately.
What is the difference between a Place ID link and a search link?
A Place ID link (search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=...) opens the review form directly. A search-based link opens Google Maps with your business name, and the customer clicks "Write a review" from there. Place ID links are more precise and skip one step.
How do I find my Google Place ID?
Go to Google Maps, search for your business, and look at the URL. The Place ID is the string starting with "ChIJ" in the URL. You can also use Google's official Place ID Finder tool.
Where should I use my review link?
Put it everywhere: QR codes at the exit and on receipts and table tents, email signatures, post-purchase emails, WhatsApp messages, SMS follow-ups, your website, and social media bios. The more touchpoints, the more reviews you collect.
Is it against Google policy to ask for reviews with a link?
No. Google explicitly allows businesses to ask for reviews and share review links. What Google prohibits is offering incentives in exchange for reviews, review gating (only asking happy customers), and bulk fake reviews.
How many reviews should I aim for per month?
A steady flow matters more than a number. Aim for consistent weekly reviews rather than bursts. For most local businesses, 10-30 new reviews per month significantly improves local search ranking.
